June 13: Intro to Shibori Dyeing Class

Raw Fleece to Finished Object #1: Eowyn's Knitted Keyhole Neck Warmer

I wanted to see how Eowyn's (Shetland sheep from Ballyhoo Farms, Bagdad, KY) fiber worked up in yarn form before I spun any more of it, so here is my first finished object after processing her raw fleece. I was pleased with the results, so now I'm ready to process more roving that will be spun into 2-ply yarn for weaving on my rigid heddle loom. 

Eowyn the Shetland's fleece: (partially) processed and spun

I've been working on Eowyn's fleece all of last week and I've spun the first (test) skein from the roving and mini-rolags I've hand processed so far.

The sample skein yielded around 100 yards of 2-ply sport weight yarn (1.25 ounces/35 grams).
